Properties and uses:
The Zamioculcas will appeal to you thanks to the originality of its foliage and erect stems. Place it near a window but not exposed to direst sun rays. It also withstands lower lights' levels providing its watering is well controlled. Indeed this plant does not withstand excess of water.
Grown in a 'design' planter, its graphic lines will easily suit most modern interiors.
Looking after advice:
The zamioculcas thrives in humid environments, so plan to mist its foliage regularly.
- Watering must also be done at regular intervals, so as to keep the earth ball slightly humid permanently.
- Avoid letting water stand in the saucer which could lead to roots rot.
- From March to September, give your Zamioculcas some liquid fertiliser once a month.
- Re-Potting is done every two to three years in a slightly bigger pot, in a mix of free-draining potting compost and sand, placed on a layer of clay marbles.
The stems of my Zamioculcas are softening up
This is caused by an excess of water. This in turn leads to roots rot, and over time, the aerial parts are no longer irrigated, loose vigour and become yellow, before dying.
