Properties and uses:
The Upright Stewartia has a rather slow growth so is ideal for the smallest gardens. It belongs to the Tea family (Theaceae), heath peat loving plants. The foliage of the Upright Stewartia is green in the spring, becoming dark red-purple in the autumn. Blossom takes place in June and last throughout the summer. It bears slightly fragrant, small pinkish-white flowers. They have numerous bright yellow stamens. The remarkable seed pods, red at first then turning marron appear at the end of summer and last throughout the entire autumn.
The Upright Stewartia is a simple but refined shrub shown at its best grown as a specimen or planted with other acid’ soil-loving plants in a flowering hedge. - Related Categories
