The Muscat de Provence Squash, also known as Nutmeg Squash, comes from the South of France.
It is a vigorous, running variety with a good yield.
The bright orange flesh is thick, sweet and flavoured.
It stores very well, even when sliced.
Type of soil: Rich and light. Fertiliser recommended.
Sowing time: From April to June.
Harvest time: From August to October.
Site: Full sun.
Sowing technique:
- Sow 5 to 6 seeds together 2 cm deep and 75 cm apart, in rows 1 m apart.
- Keep only the strongest plant of the seed hole, six weeks after growing.
Care:
- Water infrequently but generously, avoid watering the leaves.
- Hoe regularly.
- Spread mulch to encourage the crop.
