    Properties and uses:
The Sassafras will enchant you with its lovely leaves that turn reddish orange in the autumn and its original bark. Its aromatic foliage gives off a powerful scent when rubbed. In bygone days the different parts of the tree were used for medicinal purposes by the Indians, the bark was also used as a spice. However, they do contain toxins so it is best to use them for purely ornamental purposes.
The Sassafras is best grown on its own. To encourage rapid growth it is advisable to stake the tree so that it does not spread out too much.
