Geographical origins: Japan.
Adult size: Height up to 4.5m, spread up to 2m.
Foliage: Deciduous.
Type of soil: Acid, moist and rich in humus.
Climate: Hardy to -23°C, prefers cool climates
Site: Partial shade to full sun.

Characteristics and uses:
The Redvein Enkianthus, also called Enkianthus is a marvel all in delicateness. From May-June to August in cool climates, clusters of bell-shaped, small, cream to pink, fragrant flowers appear. These nectar-producing flowers are loved by bees. The foliage of the Redvein Enkianthus is finely serrated, matt green turning purplish-orange in the autumn.
Best grown on its own in heath peat, in a flowering hedge or again in a flowering bed, combined with other heath peat- loving plants like autumn-flowering Camellias and Azaleas of which the blossoming periods can follow each other, from the end of winter to the end of autumn. The Redvein Enkianthus can also be grown in a tub thanks to its slow growth. It does not require any particular care except good mulch (bark or pine needles) and regular watering as it hates dry soils.
