Properties and uses:
The California Privet is the essential shrub for quickly creating a dense and elegant green screen. Valued for its vigor and hardiness, it adapts to almost any situation, whether in the city or by the sea.
- Fast growth: It grows between 40 and 60 cm per year, rapidly forming an opaque hedge.
- Dense and glossy foliage: Thanks to its small, lustrous leaves that persist throughout most of the year (semi-evergreen), this shrub guarantees an effective and aesthetic privacy screen through the seasons, providing long-lasting protection from onlookers.
- Fragrant flowering: In June and July, it is adorned with clusters of highly scented creamy-white flowers that attract butterflies and bees.
- Ultra-resistant: It tolerates urban pollution, sea winds, and repeated pruning—even severe—very well.
Your nurseryman's tip: For a hedge that is well-furnished right from the base, we recommend planting one shrub every 60 to 80 cm. Do not hesitate to prune it twice a year (spring and late summer) to thicken its foliage.
