The violet blue flowers appear in spring before the leaves and are perfumed. A very beautiful tree to plant alone in parks and gardens.
The size of the plant is not mentioned intentionally: the Princess tree is a fast-growing plant; it is cut back completely during the first years, but grows back even taller, so its height depends on the season.
- The Paulownia 'Minfast' fortunei has a pyramidal or even fastigiated shape, it has a lighter, mauve flowering and better quality wood.
- The Paulownia tomentosa has a more upright shape with a rounded crown, it is more resistant to low temperatures and has a more sustained, blue bloom.
