The 'Lovita' plum tree (*Prunus domestica*) appeals with its heart-shaped fruit, featuring purplish-red skin and vibrant red, juicy, aromatic flesh. Selected by the breeder French Fruit Lovers for its flavor and visual appeal, this variety offers a remarkable balance of sugar and acidity; its high sugar content makes it a particularly delicious dessert plum. 'Lovita' stands out for having lower water requirements than most other plum varieties, making it especially well-suited to summer heat and increasingly dry summers. Its late flowering is another major asset: it protects the tree from spring frosts, thereby limiting crop losses caused by late cold snaps.
