Properties and uses:
Photinia 'Red Robin' is a must-have for hedges. Decorative and very vigorous, it is used to create a screen hedge (a single species) or a mixed/free hedge (several species).
Fast growing, Photinia 'Red Robin' lends itself well to pruning, which allows you to create hedges at the desired height.
Its evergreen foliage is green and its young shoots are red.
Pruning in July (after flowering) will allow you to have young red shoots again in the fall.
In spring, Photinia is covered with a beautiful creamy white umbrella bloom.
To create a screen hedge:
- Space the plants every 60 to 80 cm;
- Install mulch (after cleaning the ground);
- Top (cut) the tips of the stems to encourage the branching of the stems and to densify the hedge.
A dwarf variety exists: the Photinia Red Robin Nana Select. This photinia does not exceed 1 meter in height and therefore allows the creation of very colorful low hedges.
