    Properties and uses:
The pear tree is ideal to embellish any medium sized or large garden. In a small garden, a fan type tree is a better choice as it will take less space. In the spring you will enjoy its beautiful white and pink flowers, but you need to be patient and wait until the autumn to pick its lovely sun ripened fruits... A tip, to know if a pear is ready to pick, hold it and turn it gently, if it comes away easily with its stalk then it is ready. Keep it inside for a few days before eating, as this will allow it to be at its best!
Looking after a pear tree is a year round job, with a good feed in the spring; an annual prune and a regular look out for signs of disease.
The ‘Conference’ pear tree produces large long fruits with a fragrant, firm and crunchy flesh. It is the ideal pear for cooking. It is ready to pick at the end of September beginning of October; it can be kept until March.

Plant them now: the shortest way to your plate is through your garden!
