Geographic origins: Horticulture.
Adult size: Length of creepers, up to 6 metres.
Foliage: Evergreen, it will start to loose its leaves below -5°C.
Type of soil: All, well drained.
Hardiness: Hardy to -12°C once established. Plant in a sheltered spot away from draughts and cold winds.
Exposure: Full sun.
Properties and uses:
The white Passiflora most recognizable flowers bloom from June to September, with a delicate fragrance of Monoï. The fruits which appear after the blossoming are not edible. It is even recommended to get rid of them progressively, so they don't wear the vine out. The passiflora may be used on trellises, on fences or any other supports. This fast-growing vine is a beautiful ornamental plant for the garden.
In colder areas, cover the plant with a winter fleece to protect it from the cold, and spread mulch at the foot.
There are several cultivars:
White Passiflora 'Constance Elliot': the flowers are ivory white and quite large (between 5 and 10 cm). - Related Categories
