The Mertensia Maritima is well known as the oyster plant, as the salty taste of the silver foliage reminds that of oysters. It will thrive when planted in partial shade with no direct contact with the sun. Its foliage is thick and blue-green, and beautiful blue flowers appear in late Spring.
