The bunches of golden yellow flowers appear in March and April. The blue-black fruits are very decorative. The shiny leaves resemble those of the holly and become reddish in winter. It responds well to cutting. This is a beautiful shrub to plant alone or within a mixed flowering hedge or flowerbed or even within a mixed group to create a screening hedge.
