Properties and uses:
The water Oak is a quick growing tree. Its simple-lobed leaves have a water drop shape, and its brown, smooth bark on younger specimen becomes greyish-black and flaky as the tree matures. It is a short-lived tree compared to other Oak species as it only lives about 100 years. With its trunk which can reach 1m across, it can be either planted on its own in a park or in a line. It is also suited to swampy areas and on the edge of water spots.
The water Oak has an ecological role as it is able to absorb the lead present in soils. - Related Categories
