    The Serrata oak is distinguished by its grey or dark reddish brown bark and its leaves that turn red in autumn. Its acorns are egg shaped and have a cup made of triangular scales. Flowering occurs mid spring. It has a vase like shape that opens out, it is often found as a lone specimen in parks and gardens.
