  • Area of origin : Coastal regions of California. From sea level to 1400m (1531yds) altitude. Introduced into Europe in 1849.
    Adult Dimensions : Height up to 25 m (82'), width up to 13 m (42,6). Often grows shrubby.
    Foliage : Evergreen.
    Soil Type : All except that with too much lime.
    Hardiness : Tolerant to -17°C.
    Exposure : Full Light.


    Properties and uses:
    This is a bushy tree with a rounded shape and curved branches. Similar to the evergreen oak this species has developed on the sea coast. This tree is the most typical of the Pacific Coast of the United States of America. The acorns can measure up to 3.5cm (1,4') long.
