The Dasylirion longissimum, also known as the Mexican grass tree for it is geographic origins – the mountain area of Mexico – is an extraordinary sculptural plant. It is drought tolerant when growing in rocky and dry areas, it is also cold hardy as long as the soil is well-drained. The Dasylirion longissimum has numerous sharp and narrow green leaves which create a crown-like shape. This Mexican grass tree will thrive when placed in a rock garden, in a dry area, but also in a flower bed or alone near a terrace or a swimming-pool or planted in a pot and placed on a balcony. Watering in summer, a sunny spot and some light soil are the perfect conditions for the growth of this plant.
