The Marshmallow Root is also known by its Latin name Althaea Officinalis. Its common name comes for the fact that its root has been traditionally used to produce marshmallow paste, a famous treat for those with a sweet tooth. Today, it has been replaced by industrial products.
This fast-growing perennial plant will soon become a nice bush, with pale pink-purple flowers showing in July. Beyond its history, the Marshmallow root is a non-demanding, drought-resistant, interesting plant to have in your garden, in open ground or in a pot.
