Superb and abundant blue flowers illuminate the garden from June to September. Hydrangeas are well known for brightening the northern aspect of buildings and can just as well be used under trees, in flowerbeds or mixed groups. Can be used for creating beautiful dried floral arrangements.
Why is my 'Adria' hydrangea pink?
A hydrangea has a blue colour due to the fixing of aluminium in the pigments of the petals. As aluminium is more easily absorbed when the surrounding area is acidic, it suggests that your soil is not acidic enough.
Add peat, mulch with pine bark or needles and either add aluminium or French blue (be careful to use the correct amount !)
The soil will become more acidic and the hydrangea will turn blue or violet, inversely the more neutral the soil is then the pinker will be the hydrangea. - Related Categories
