Properties and uses:
The Hosta 'Halcyon'’ is a perennial plant with heart-shaped, blue-grey leaves. It adorns a multitude of silvery, pale purple flowers, in August-September.
Not demanding, and with good longevity, Hostas are perfect used as ground covering plants, as long as they are planted in moist soils and in shady areas.
In the spring, mulch the soil with a mix of vegetal mulch and compost. In summer, cut down the flowering stems which have wilted and remove the leaves that have suffered for the best display.
Protect from slugs and snails, as they are fond of its leaves.
