Geographical origin: Cross between Erica Erigena x Erica Carnea, obtained in Great Britain.
Adult dimensions: Height up to 60 cm, spread up to 60 cm.
Foliage: Evergreen.
Type of soil: Rich, moist and well-drained, sandy, acidic to neutral. Only tolerates a slightly calcareous soil.
Climate: Hardy to -20°C, even more, withstands sea-spray.
Site: Partial shade to full sun.
Planting density: 3 to 4/m².
Characteristics and uses:
White Winter Heath will brighten up your flowering borders and pots all winter with its coloured blossom, from November-December to March-April. Not demanding, it is best to plant it in acidic soil or in a substrate made of a third of horticultural compost and two thirds of heath peat.
Growing slowly, the winter Heath does not require a lot of care: the first two years water in moderation during drought. Cut the stems which have borne flowers without touching the old wood which does not come through again.
