This small tree is commonly called Fragrant Winter Hazel, but it doesn’t produce any nuts.
This graphic and graceful tree spreads widely and its branches develop in a zigzag shape.
Generous racemes of small, fragrant, bell-shaped pale yellow flowers bloom in late winter, just before the burgeoning of the leaves.
The foliage is made of round, toothed, smooth leaves. They are bright green when they first appear and turn darker during the summer.
The Fragrant Winter Hazel doesn’t need any special care.
