Properties and uses:
The New Zealand flax 'Apricot Queen' features magnificent foliage with bright, shifting hues that change with the seasons. Its red-edged leaves offer a rich variegation of green, yellow, and cream, revealing apricot to salmon tones when exposed to direct sunlight. Its long leaves, measuring up to 3 meters, drape gracefully to the ground in a sculptural fashion. The autumn and winter cold accentuates this coloration. The yellow background gives way to much deeper copper and orange tones, making the plant particularly luminous during the darker months.
It is a robust plant, highly resistant to sea spray and drought once established.
Whether paired with ornamental grasses or planted as a specimen, the New Zealand flax 'Apricot Queen' will put on a show and bring a touch of exoticism to your garden all year round. It is also perfectly suited for growing in large containers to adorn balconies and terraces.
Remember to mulch the base and cover it with a winter fleece in regions prone to hard frosts.
