The False Dittany is a perennial plant often qualified as sub-shrub.
The evergreen heart-shaped foliage is composed of thick silver-hairy leaves which turn white in summer.
The white flowers, with hues of mauve, grow in the axil of the leaves in early summer.
The False Dittany bears windy spots, drought and sea sprays.
It is recommended to prune the shrub at the end of winter.
Anecdote: in the past, the hairy bracts were used as wicks for oil lamps.
