Celery is very productive.
The stalks are fleshy, round and perfectly smooth.
They are very tasty.
Type of soil: Deep, rich, and moist. Better to compost-enrich the soil before sowing.
Sowing time: From February to March in cold frame. From April to May outdoor.
Harvest time: From August to November.
Site: Full sun.
Sowing technique:
- Sow in rows ½ cm deep, and 10 cm apart.
- Transplant 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, keeping seedlings 10 cm apart.
- Transplant again 6 weeks later, 40 cm apart in humus rich soil.
Care:
- Water generously and frequently during summer but avoid watering the leaves.
- Add plenty of mulch.
- Hoe and weed regularly.
- 15 days before the harvest, tie growing stalks together and earth up for blanching.
