Properties and uses:
Hong Kong Dogwood (Cornus hongkongensis) is an unusual and beautiful shrub, with glossy, evergreen leaves and beige bark with white gashes. As soon as autumn and cold arrive, its leaves turn beautiful shades of orange and purple. The Hong Kong Dogwood is an abundant bloomer. In summer, it is covered by a multitude of fragrant white flowers. These are followed by big, red, edible fruit, similar to strawberry.
Hong Kong Dogwood is quite ornamental, and a sight to see, even in winter. It can be planted alone, in a hedge, in flower beds or Japanese gardens.
