Sowing technique:
- In April, sow 2 to 3 seeds in pods in a cold frame,
or
- In May/June, sow outdoor 2 to 3 seeds together 2 cm deep in rows 80 cm apart.
- Keep the strongest plant in each seed hole, six weeks after growth.
Care:
- Water infrequently but generously, avoid watering the leaves.
- Hoe regularly.
- Spread mulch to encourage the crop and keep away the weeds.
- Harvest when young, so the fruit keeps it mild artichoke flavour.
