Foliage : Deciduous.
Soil Type : All. Dislikes lime.
Hardiness : Hardy to -30°C.

Properties and uses:
The apricot colouring of the foliage in autumn makes this shrub very attractive. The numerous white flowers with pink produce violet black berries at the end of summer for the great pleasure of the birds. The slightly acidic fruits are good for using in the making of jams and preserves. It can be planted alone but also within a mixed hedge.
Plant them now: the shortest way to your plate is through your garden!
Black Aronia 'Viking' : Variety with edible, black fruits rich in polyphenol.
Purple Aronia 'Nero' : Cross between an Aronia melanocarpa and an Aronia arbutifolia, with purple, sour fruits which are rich in vitamin C. They are used in cookery (jams, baking .). This variety is highly cold-resistant. - Related Categories
