The variety 'The president' has shiny blue green leaves that remind you of the leaves of the banana tree and luminous red flowers.
The rhizomes are planted out in the spring, between February and end of May, and offer you magnificent flowers from the summer through to November.
Cannas can stand dry spells, but will be at their best if watered regularly.
Dead head on a regular basis to promote the apparition of new flowers, and staking is necessary for the tallest varieties.
