Properties and uses:
Discover the Butcher’s broom, a sub-shrub that brings an unusual, lively touch to your garden, even in the heart of winter. Its evergreen, attractive foliage is made of shiny, spine-tipped, bright green leaves. It ideally gives structure to deeply shaded areas or undergrowth. It grows quite slowly. The Butcher’s Broom is dioecious, which means that both a male and a female plant are necessary to obtain fruits. The female shrub is the only one that bears fruit.
The splendid, non-edible, red berries last throughout winter, creating a nice contrast with the green foliage. It’s the perfect Christmas decoration ! Furthermore, the Butcher’s Broom rhizome is known and used in phytotherapy.Information on risks: Toxic when ingested (foliage and berries).
Information on how to avoid risks: Keep children away from plant. In case of ingestion, call an anti-poison centre or the 112.
