Properties and uses:
The Alder Buckthorn is an attractive and modern shrub. Its graphical display and the exotic foliage are appreciated. The leaves are light and indented, reminding those of the ferns. They turn red in autumn.
The yellow flowers are very discreet and valuable for bees, then the following berries are black and scarce.
The Alder Buckthorn shows a good resistance to pollution, the use of this plant should not be limited to flowerbeds or mixed- hedges. It easily adapts to urban environment, and can be used on a terrace or a patio, for example.
It grows best in part-shade and prefers consistent moisture. - Related Categories
