In winter, birds spend a large part of the day looking for food, in particular to fight the cold. It is a difficult season as resources are scarce and their energy needs are high. In the spring, parents need food for their fledglings. Installing a bird feeding-dish in a garden is therefore a great help for our feathers' friends.
Where to install a bird feeder?
- Preferably in a sunny, peaceful spot, sheltered from bad weather. It also needs to offer good visibility to watch for predators.
- At 1.5 m from the ground, to be able to fill it easily while being inaccessible to cats.
- Ideally near a hedge or a shrub so that the birds can find shelter in it to shell the seeds.
