-
Recommended temperature: 19 to 21°C, minimum 5°C.
Hygrometry: Dry atmosphere.
Soil: Light and free draining (type compost for cactus).
Site: Very bright, withstands direct sunrays.
Geographical origins: Mexico.
Properties and uses:
The Elephant's foot palm is so called because of its trunk shape, which has a large base, in a bottle shape, or elephant foot shape.
It is thanks to the water reserve it contains that it can live in arid, semi-desert areas.
Its original foliage is fine and bends down.
It does not need a lot of looking after, and has slow growth.
Looking after advice:
- Water moderately with tepid water and let the soil dry out between waterings.
- Do not let water stagnate.
- Give you Nolina recurvata some liquid fertilizer suitable for cactuses in the spring.
- Re-potting is not necessary, unless you wish to renew part of the compost.
