Variety, which has a flat root, a red collar and a white flesh. Its foliage is not too developed. If this variety is harvested at a young stage, it is an excellent family food, if on the contrary it is harvested at maturity it is destined to animal consumption.
Type of soil: Moist, rich and well dug.
Sowing time: From March to September.
Harvest time: 2 months after sowing, before the frosts.
Site: Partial shade to full sun.
Sow directly in the ground:
- In 1cm deep furrows, sow a grain every 5cm, cover with fine compost and water.
- Thin out one plant in two as soon as the young shoots appear.
Care:
- Keep the soil moist.
- About two months after sowing harvest the turnips as required.
- For winter, varieties harvest before the frosts arrive.
- Leave them to dry for a day in the sun then remove the leaves and store them in the cellar.
